Lavender Oil Blends Well With…


Lavender oil has a delicate fresh floral and botanic aroma and blends beautifully with a wealth of other oils. It has so many wonderful properties and is one of the master oils to start your DIY oil kit! 

So I’m going to run through all the oils that blend well with lavender essential oil. 

Let’s start with the quick answer first so you can get started straight away! 

Lavender blends well with tea tree, peppermint, chamomile, eucalyptus, lemon, clary sage, ylang-ylang, geranium, cedarwood, frankincense, rosemary, grapefruit, orange, neroli, bergamot, cypress, sandalwood, lemongrass, vetiver, helichrysum, basil, thyme, nutmeg, jasmine, sweet marjoram and many more!

Lavender can be used individually or combined with other oils

Lavender essential oil is packed full of amazing benefits and a calming, slightly herby aroma which both restores and relaxes. You can use lavender essential oil simply on its own, or in a blend with other oils. 

It tends to blend well with other floral oils, and those with a citrus, woody or spicy aroma to harmonize with its floral scent.

Below I’ve shared my list of favorite oils that blend well with Lavender oil in a little more depth. Read on to discover how they blend, with lots of diffusers, skincare, massage recipes, pillow sprays, and more! 

Lavender and peppermint blend well

Peppermint oil has a wealth of benefits from easing muscle pain, to reducing coughs and colds. 

headache, muscle aches, joint pain, and itching. In aromatherapy, peppermint oil is promoted for treating coughs and colds, reducing pain, improving mental function, and reducing stress.

Peppermint and lavender combined are a potent mix. Peppermints balsam, uplifting and fresh aroma blends perfectly with the richer floral tones of lavender. 

Lavender oil mixes well with peppermint to:

  • Reduce stress 
  • Help with muscle ache 
  • Treats coughs, colds and other respiratory infections 
  • Improves focus 
  • Stops itching 
  • Supports healthy hands 

Lavender and peppermint hand cream 

Mix 2 drops of each oil with a teaspoon of your favorite hand cream. Ones without added fragrance are best. 

Apply to your hands and fingers. Pop on a pair of cotton gloves and relax with a lavender and peppermint diffuser blend! This is a perfect blend to add nourishment to your hands or help with itching. 

Add 5 drops of each oil to 100mL of distilled water, or water boiled and cooled in a kettle. Run your diffuser timer for ½ hour.

Lavender and Tea tree oil works together 

Tea tree oil needs no introduction! It’s one of the oils most of us have in our medicine kit for its wealth of bacteria inhibiting properties. 

Tea tree oil naturally has a strong woody scent. Lavender essential oil balances out the sharpness of tea tree, creating a more soothing aroma while retaining the cleansing properties of both oils.

Tea tree’s analgesic properties make it an appealing addition to pain-relieving and injury-healing formulas. 

Lavender oil blends well with tea tree oil to: 

  • Cleanse
  • Soothe
  • Bring antibacterial and antioxidant properties. 
  • Add antiviral and antifungal to blend recipes 
  • Diffuse to stop germs from spreading 
  • Bug repellent including head lice 

Lavender and tea tree oil head lice blend 

  • 20 drops tea tree oil 
  • 10 drops lavender oil 

Add both oils to an 8oz spray bottle, and fill with distilled water, or water boiled in a kettle and cooled. 

Add to hair regularly after washing and comb through with a nit  comb

Lavender and Roman chamomile together 

Roman chamomile’s gentle yet soothing properties are beneficial for skincare, which makes it a great pairing with lavender oil. 

It blends perfectly with lavender essential oil during the summer or winter months when skin is more susceptible to damage due to sun exposure or cold weather. 

Lavender essential oil and Roman chamomile blend well to: 

  • Helps symptoms of IBS 
  • Relaxes and restores 
  • Reduces mental fatigue 
  • Promotes focus 
  • Reduces symptoms of morning sickness 
  • Calms 
  • Assists with menstrual cramps 

Lavender and Roman chamomile moisturiser 

  • 3 drops lavender 
  • 2 drops of Roman chamomile 

1 tablespoon of coconut oil or your favorite moisturizer 

Mix well and add before makeup in summer or a cold winter’s day 

Lavender and rosemary blending

These two oils were meant for blending! They share similar properties and together they can help support anxiety, lift mood, and are perfect to repel insects on your plants! 

Their antifungal and antiviral properties mean they are perfect to soothe and comfort cold and flu symptoms along with helping to support skin health. 

The beautiful herbal aromatic rosemary is a perfect match in a diffuser blend with the heady floral flower garden scent of lavender. 

Lavender oil and rosemary blend well to: 

  • Improve blood circulation
  • Boost the immune system 
  • Improve memory and focus 
  • Help to repel bugs in the home and garden 

Lavender and Rosemary immune boosting diffuser blend 

10 drops of lavender

8 drops of Rosemary

3 drops lemon 

200mL of distilled water or from a boiled and cooled kettle 

Add all ingredients to an electronic diffuser (half the ingredients for a ceramic diffuser )

Lavender and eucalyptus blend together well 

Eucalyptus is another oil similar to lavender that needs no introduction! Together these master oils bring a wealth of antioxidants, antibacterial and antiviral properties. The clearing and decongest qualities of eucalyptus match with soothing and calming lavender. They work well in diffuser blends to reduce cold and flu symptoms. 

Lavender oil and eucalyptus blend well to: 

  • Clear chests and congestion 
  • Support a healthy immune system 
  • Help with painful joints such as arthritis
  • Repel bugs 
  • Soothe flu and cold symptoms 

Lavender oil and eucalyptus immune boosting blend 

  • 5 drops lavender
  • 5 drops eucalyptus 
  • 100mL of distilled or boiled and cooled water from a kettle 

Put all ingredients into a diffuser and set for an hour before bed

Lavender and Geranium oil work together well 

Geranium essential oil is one of my absolute favorite oils! It’s perfect for so many aromatherapy blends. It’s perfect when added to lavender essential oils calming, uplifting scent.

Both share skin healing properties which make it perfect to use in your DIY beauty routine!

Lavender essential oil blends well with geranium to: 

  • Keep fine lines, age spots and wrinkles at bay
  • Ease periods of anxiety and depression
  • Help with infections
  • Provide antibacterial, antioxidant and antibacterial properties to diffuser blends 
  • Aid pain management. 

This serum is my ultimate go-to recipe which I use every night and morning. 

You will start to see an improvement in skin texture and reduction of fine lines after only a couple of days! 

 Lavender and geranium anti aging serum 

  • 3 drops lavender oil and 
  • 3 drops geranium oil 
  • Apricot kernel oil to fill a 1 ounce dropper bottle 

Add all ingredients and shake well. Apply serum night and morning, concentrating on any fine lines, age spots, or wrinkles

Lavender and Clary sage blend

Clary sage is potent oil with an aroma similar to lavender, with an amber leather undertone. 

Together they are a powerhouse in diffuser blends, balms, and sprays. 

The properties of both oils are very similar, however, lavender contains linalyl acetate which makes it a stronger antiseptic. 

A few drops of lavender oil blended with sage oil can also help relieve headaches and migraine. 

Lavender essential oil blends well with clary sage to: 

  • Alleviate stressful thoughts 
  • Help with anxious feelings 
  • Relaxes and calms 
  • Reduces blood pressure

Lavender and clary sage diffuser blend 

  • 5 drops lavender 
  • 5 drops clary sage 
  • 100mL distilled water or from a boiled, cooled kettle 

Add all to your diffuser. If you have a 200mL size diffuser then simply double the drops. 

This is a lovely blend for relaxing after a hard day and also smells lovely too!

Lavender blends well with Vetiver 

Vetiver has a wealth of uses and is especially good for stings and burns. It combines perfectly with the burn quelling compounds of lavender for super soothing!  In diffuser vetiver and lavender are perfect for helping reduce nervousness. 

Lavender essential oil and vetiver blend well to: 

  • Relieve emotional traumas 
  • Reduce symptoms of stings and burns 
  • Helps with shock 
  • Supports arthritis
  • Ease joint and muscle pain 
  • Remove lice and repels other insects 
  • Work together for sleep issues, such as sleep apnea and insomnia ( pop over to my other helpful article to discover 17 blends to help those suffering from or partners of those with sleep apnea) 

Lavender and vetiver bug repellent blend 

  • 15 drops lavender 
  • 15 drops vetiver 
  • 8oz spray bottle filled with distilled or water boiled and cooled from a kettle. To add some extra strength, half and half water and apple cider vinegar

Mix well and spray to any infected areas.

Lavender with Lemon oil 

Lemon oil has an uplifting citrus aroma and has a huge wealth of benefits in aromatherapy recipes. 

Lavender essential oil blends well with lemon because they both share antibacterial properties.

The soothing floral aroma of lavender combined with the great antibacterial properties that lemon brings makes them perfect partners for spring cleaning. 

Lavender oil and lemon oil blend well to:  

  • Create DIY cleaning recipes 
  • Reduce fatigue 
  • Kill viruses and bacteria in diffuser blends 
  • Reduces inflammation 
  • Helps with anxious thoughts 
  • Keeps skin clear and blemish free 

Lavender and lemon anti Bac 

Add 15 drops of lavender and 12 drops of lemon to an 8oz spray bottle, then fill with distilled or boiled and cooled water from a kettle. 

This spray is perfect for door handles, bathroom, and kitchen floors if anyone in the family is ill or simply to keep harmful bacteria at bay.

Lavender and Helichrysum blend together 

Helichrysum essential oil has lots of uses including improving the appearance of scars and blemishes when mixed with lavender there’s a double whammy of benefits and together they can relax and restore. 

Helichrysum’s warm honey-toned aroma, mixed with botanical spicy overtones, adds richness to the floral scent of lavender.

Helichrysum essential oil contains a wealth of anti-inflammatories, including oryzanol. When mixed with lavender it is a powerhouse for wound healing. 

It also has antioxidant properties that can help to prevent scarring by regenerating new cells and preventing the accumulation of free radicals. This oil is also said to: relieve skin rashes.

Lavender essential oil and helichrysum blend well to: 

  • Provide antioxidants 
  • Heal wounds 
  • Reduce appearance of scars 
  • Prevent free-radicals 
  • Help with skin rash symptoms 
  • Promote healing 
  • Fight Infection 

Clinical studies have shown that essential oils are more powerful in reducing skin infections than antibiotics. 

Lavender and vetiver athletes foot soak 

  • 5 drops of lavender oil
  • 8 drops of tea tree oil
  • 2 drops of peppermint oil
  • ¾ cup cider vinegar 

Mix the oils together in a jug with the cider vinegar and then add to an electronic foot Bath or simply add to a bowl. Soak feet for around 15 to 20 minutes through any infection period. 

Lavender and neroli essential oil

Lavender blends with neroli perfectly. One of the main reasons is they are both amazing at helping with skincare! 

This combo is one of my absolute favorites. 

The citrusy uplifting fragrance of neroli works beautifully with the more herby and floral lavender.  The aroma is perfect for DIY skincare, along with their skin benefits. 

Both lavender and neroli have soothing properties and when blended together they can: 

  • Help with wound healing 
  • Prevent scarring 
  • Soothe skin irritations 

This is one of my favorite simple massage blends and is perfect for giving your SO a back massage or for your hands and feet. 

Lavender and neroli skin massage oil 

Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a saucer or glass jar and apply. 

Lavender oil blends well with bergamot oil

Bergamot essential oil is well known for its skin-healing properties, which makes it a good choice to combine with lavender when creating DIY skincare blends 

Its slightly citrusy botanical fragrance mixed with lavender is like a walk through a summer herb garden! 

Bergamot is one of my all-time favorite oils and mixed together with lavender essential oil  it helps to : 

Lavender and bergamot calming diffuser blend 

  • 6 drops lavender 
  • 6 drops bergamot 
  • 100mL of distilled or water from a kettle boiled and cooled 

Add all ingredients to an electronic or ceramic diffuser an hour before bed. I also love to add the contents of the diffuser into a comforting, warm bath afterward.

Lavender and patchouli blend together

Patchouli oil has been used in veydic medicine for centuries.  Combined with lavender, patchoulis spicy aroma is tempered by  balsamic and floral undertones. 

They bring together lavender’s calming, soothing properties with patchouli’s grounding benefits. 

Lavender essential oil and patchouli blend well together to: 

  • Relieve skin itching
  • Help with skin conditions such as acne
  • Combat stress and negative thoughts 

Lavender and patchouli acne balm 

  • 2oz aloe vera gel  
  • 5 drops Patchouli 
  • 5 drops Lavender 
  • 3 drops Tea Tree 
  • 2 drops Lemon

Mix all ingredients together in a flip top pot and apply regularly with a cotton wool ball night and morning 

Lavender and lemongrass blends

As with lemon, lavender essential oil also combines with lemongrass to produce a fresh washday scent! 

The cleansing properties of both essential oils combine to make this blend perfect for DIY cleaning scrubs for the kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms.

Lavender essential oil blends well with lemongrass to: 

  • Boost mood 
  • Refresh and revive 
  • Provide antibacterial  and antiviral properties to diffuser blends 
  • Calm and relax 

Lavender and lemongrass cleaning scrub 

  • 1/2 Cup baking soda.
  • 6 drops lavender oil
  • 6 drops lemongrass 
  • 2 drops lemon 
  • Water to make a paste 

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl or wide-rimmed jar and apply to difficult to clean areas or those with stubborn stains. 

Lavender and mandarin blend well

Mandarin is such a beautiful uplifting oil and has so many benefits in diffusers, balms and of course smells gorgeous in a pillow spray! 

When it’s mixed with lavender, you can expect a relaxing and calming blend that is perfect for bedrooms or any place where rest and rejuvenation is required! 

Lavender essential oil and mandarin blend well to: 

  • Soothe and restore 
  • Rejuvenate 
  • Calm and relax
  • Reduce acne, spots and other blemishes 
  • Helps to keep wrinkles and age spots at bay
  • Remove stressful and anxious thoughts
  • Aid restful sleep 

Lavender and mandarin calming rollerball blend 

  • 3 drops of lavender
  • 2 drops of mandarin 
  • Fill up a 1oz rollerball bottle with rose water or witch hazel 

Add all ingredients and shake well. Apply to pulse points at times of stress 

Lavender with jasmine blend

Jasmine essential oil is known to be effective in alleviating symptoms such as anxiety, stress and depression. It is also one of the most expensive oils because of its exquisite fragrance that is also used for aromatherapy.

A blend of lavender and jasmine can work well with mood disorders like irritability and restlessness. 

The exquisite and exotic flower garden fragrance of jasmine blends beautifully with the more botanical lavender in all fragrant blends! 

Together these oils are a powerhouse in helping to kill germs. 

So it’s not surprising that in a clinical trial jasmine was found to increase antimicrobial activity against e coli and some strains of candida. 

Lavender essential oil and jasmine blend well to: 

  • Bring sensual aphrodisiac qualities to massage blends 
  • Boost mood
  • Offer antiseptic properties 
  • Help with skin conditions such as psoriasis and oily skin 
  • Increase antimicrobial activity 

Lavender and Jasmine enriching balm 

  • 7 drops of jasmine 
  • 4 drops lavender oil 
  • 2 tablespoons of apricot or jojoba oil 

Mix together well in a saucer or a screw topped jar. Apply after cleansing and toning night and morning to nourish and rejuvenate skin 

Lavender and cedarwood blend well together

Cedarwood is another of my favourite oils. It’s refreshing and cleansing ‘mountain air’ aroma makes it perfect to blend with floral, aromatic lavender. Cedarwood and lavender together are a power source of antioxidants,  antibacterial and antiviral compounds and support the immune system.

Together they blend well to:

Lavender and cedarwood bath oil 

  • 5 drops lavender oil 
  • 3 drops cedarwood
  • 1 tablespoon of apricot kernel oil 

Mix all Ingredients well in a saucer or screw top jar and add to a warm running bath. 

Lavender with grapefruit

When mixing lavender with grapefruit they offer freshness, vitality and are  gorgeous in a diffuser blend! The power packed anti oxidants, antiviral and antibacterial qualities of this tropical oil has similar properties to lavender. Together they can increase focus and energy.

Grapefruit oil brings a perfect sunny lift to a summer’s day and has a wealth of benefits. 

Lavender and grapefruit blends well together to: 

  • Balance mood 
  • Support metabolism 
  • Reduce stress and anxiety 
  • Uplift and restore 
  • Help reduce athlete’s foot 
  • Supports healthy skin and symptoms of eczema 

Lavender and lime blend well

Lime oil is one of lavender’s closest companions when it comes to therapeutic benefits because they are almost identical in their chemical properties. Mixed together these powerful oils have strong anti viral, antibacterial  and antioxidant properties. 

The uplifting tropical scent of lime blends perfectly with lavender  in DIY beauty and home cleaning recipes. 

Lavender and lime oil blends well to: 

  • Bring natural antiseptic qualities 
  • Clear the mind 
  • Reduce congestion 
  • Support good skin health 

Lavender and lime oil shower blend 

Simply drop 5 drops of lavender and 4 drops of lime oil into the shower. Let it run for a few minutes before getting into a stimulating spa experience! 

Lavender blends well with Frankincense

Lavender and frankincense make a great combination because they both have soothing properties, which makes them great for use on skin conditions. Both Lavender and frankincense can help to reduce redness and irritation of the skin.

The spicy oriental fragrance of Frankincense blends beautifully with the more floral, botanical aroma of lavender in diffuser blends. 

Lavender oil and Frankincense blend well to: 

  • Assist with anti-aging, including fine lines and wrinkles 
  • Reduces skin redness 
  • Improve respiratory conditions such as asthma and other allergies 
  • Helps destroy free radicals than can cause cancer

Another beautiful uplifting aromatic citrus oil which is one of my go-to oils! Lavender and orange are two important oils and when mixed are antibacterial, antioxidant and also antimicrobial The immune boosting power of these oils helps fight infection, soothe and comfort. 

The sharp citrus burst of orange oil blends perfectly with the floral and botanical overtones of lavender in diffusers.
