Bath Blends For Relaxation

One of the superpowers of essential oils is that blending them can help you relax, turn off negative chatter in your head, calm, and re-energize.

So in this bath blends for relaxation, I’ve curated a list of my favorites from all my other blogs together in one place!

Running a bath in itself is a calming and relaxing way to end a hard day, when combined with the beautiful uplifting scent of your favorite oil, it takes relaxation to another level!

Let’s start with the queen of relaxation, lavender oil!

1.Lavender and bergamot calming blend

Bergamot is one of my all-time favorite oils! In a relaxation recipe, they can really help to lift your mood and enhance a positive feeling of well-being.

  • 6 drops lavender
  • 6 drops bergamot
  • 100mL of distilled or water from a kettle boiled and cooled

Add all ingredients to an electronic or ceramic diffuser an hour before bed. I also love to add the contents of the diffuser into a comforting, warm bath afterward!

2. Lavender and cedarwood bath oil

Cedarwood is another of my favorite oils. It’s refreshing and cleansing ‘mountain air’ aroma makes it perfect to blend with floral, aromatic lavender.

  • 5 drops lavender oil
  • 3 drops cedarwood
  • 1 tablespoon of apricot kernel oil

Mix all ingredients well in a saucer or screw-top jar and add to a warm running bath.

3. Self care bath blend

1 tablespoon of your favorite carrier oil such as coconut, jojoba, almond or peach kernel

Mix all ingredients well in a small screw-top glass jar or a saucer and add to a warm bath.

4. Winter nights bath blend

  • 4 drops of Cedarwood oil
  • 5 drops Rosemary oil
  • 4 drops lemon, orange or bergamot oil
  • 200mL of distilled or tap water

Add all ingredients to a warm running bath an hour before bed.

5. For some instant calm and relaxation

Add two drops of cedarwood in one tablespoon of your favorite carrier oil ( I love jojoba or apricot kernel oil for skin nourishing properties) and three drops of Ylang-ylang.

Rub it into your hands gently. Sit calmly and cover your nose with your hands and inhale it for four to five minutes.

This cedarwood and ylang-ylang blend is perfect to use in an electronic or ceramic diffuser, added to a warm running bath or shower.

6. Frankincense calming bath blend

Add this blend to a warm running bath. I love this beautifully relaxing blend because it’s just perfect for winding down at the end of a busy day.

I often run my diffuser on for an hour while cooking an evening meal to help me relax or when getting ready for bed.

7. Moonlight relaxing bath blend

  • 3 drops lemon balm
  • 2 drops Rosemary
  • 2 drops Ylang Ylang
  • 2 tablespoons of olive or grapeseed oil

Mix thoroughly in a small glass jar or a saucer and add to a warm evening bath

  • 2 drops cypress or add 2 more drops each of lavender and chamomile
  • 2 tablespoons avocado or jojoba oil ( if you don’t have these, then olive oil will work perfectly)

9. Spring awakening orange oil bath blend

Orange essential oil brings a bright note to spring diffusers, reeds, and also if you are thinking of making your own candles.

  • 5 drops of orange
  • 4 drops of bergamot
  • 4 drops chamomile

Bergamot has a beautiful slightly herby orange fragrance, which works beautifully with orange oil and with a chamomile scent of freshly mown grass, this orange essential oil blend really captures the essence of a spring walk!

10. Crackling orange oil bath blend

A gently flickering fireplace and the sound of crackling logs is conjured up perfectly by this warming orange oil bath blend.

Blend orange oil with a spicy overtone along with the smell of a walk through the leaves in fall with a woody aroma with nutmeg and clove.

  • 5 drops of orange oil
  • 4 drops of nutmeg
  • 1 drop of clove

11. Geranium ‘chill out’ bath blend

  • 3 drops geranium
  • 2 drops Roman chamomile
  • 2 drops lavender
  • 2 drops bergamot

1 tablespoon of your favorite carrier oil – my favorite is avocado or argan as they both feel amazing on your skin, not to mention the vitamin E content of Argan and the fatty acids in avocado oil which are both moisturizing and soothing

12. Relax and balance bath blend

  • 3 drops Ylang Ylang
  • 3 drops of geranium oil
  • 3 drops rose or rosewood
  • 3 drops lime
  • 3 drops Sweet orange or Neroli
  • 2 tablespoons of nourishing oil such as Jojoba oil or apricot kernel oil

Run a warm bath and add half the blend to relax and unwind after a busy day. There should be enough for two baths in this blend, so simply mix in a screw-topped jar.

Geranium oil is one of my all-time favourite oils! find out how to use it in skincare blends, diffuser blends, pillow sprays and more by checking out Which oils blend well with Geranium?

13 …And breathe bath blend

  • 4 drops Geranium
  • 4 drops Lavender
  • 4 drops bergamot
  • 1 tablespoon Sweet almond oil

Along with lavender which is well known to have relaxing and calming qualities, Bergamot helps to release serotonin and dopamine to reduce feelings of anxiety.

Add these ingredients to the tablespoon of carrier oil ( at the bottom of each recipe) and simply add to a warm bath.

It’s also lovely to add ¼ cup of Epsom or rock salt to each bath for added exfoliation. Magnesium which is contained in Epsom salts produces melatonin also helps to promote sleep and reduce stress.

Soak for between 20 and 30 minutes and emerge feeling beautifully scented and ready for bed!
